As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our early foundations school programme fosters that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science and social studies concepts.
Morning drills are very important and put children in the right frame of mind for activities like the circle time, news time, etc. Children can go over the calendar, phonics, colours, shapes, numbers, letters, songs, rhymes and interesting things to light up their spirit for the day. As the children sit in circles, they learn to hug and hold hands to foster love amongst themselves, teaching them not to fight but ratl1er spread out love and happiness amongst themselves. This fosters friendship and togetherness for children and teachers, enhancing sound relationships amongst pupils and their instructors/nannies.
Dolly engages in programmes such as professionals' day to sensitize the children at an early age to know the various job options in the world. Apart from the nonnal class projects, a major project work is organised yearly, and this requires all hands on research work and full participation by both instructors/nannies and children. Some project works that have had great impact in the school are "Sinking & floating objects, with reference to Noah's ark" and the "Animal Farm".
The school can boast of an animal farm with ducks, fowls, guinea fowls, rabbits and fish (tilapia). On the 18th of May 2012, the school had a presentation of the flags of the world, featuring the various continents, the colours and symbols of the various flags. The children were taught the names of some countries and associated them with their flags. We then focussed on the meaning of the Ghana Flag.
To tap the God-given potential in every child, extracurricular activities are organised in the afternoons. The saying goes that "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy".
